Folks,
The online status shows a different date than the receipt date my lawyer is telling me. I am july filer......the lawyer telling me july date and online shows sept date.......
Is this normal?

thats fine. the receipt date on your I-485 receipt is the date for all your needs (AC-21 etc). The online date is many times the notice-date (in my case), the date the case was transferred to some other location (for some others)

My visa is H4 and I got my EAD last month, but my family's I-140 and I-485 on pending, if I use my EAD , unfortunately I-140 we can not pass, is that means I must leave U.S.A. in ten days?

This is really stupid of USCIS to assume that we would stay in the same position for 6-7 years before they can re open the case.
I don't know the answer to your question, but I would think if you are staying at the same place with the same company shouldn't be an issue as long as you stay in the same department.
e.g. if you start in IT as an engineer and then during the GC process you change to a managerial role this should be o.k.
But it you shift from IT to sales with the same salary there would be an issue.

One of my friend is working for X employer on L1 Visa since 2007. He applied for H1B visa through Y company in 2008 quota, luckily he got it but never joined the company. Now his L1 visa is about to expire.
Question is
What will happen to his H1B visa after L1 visa renewal ?

When the H1B was approved if COS was filed and approved, your friend is in trouble. The moment the H1B was approved with COS - means the H1B was coming into effect based on the effective date and L1 was gone. But if your friend did not join the company who sponsored the H1B and still working with L1 - he is out of status. L1 was invalid and he didnot join the H1B sponsor. Effectively he does not have any visa now.
But if the H1B was not filed as COS - Change of Status, he is fine. Now if you go to renew the L1, he would lose the H1B. Whatever the latest visa became valid. So if he wants to switch over to H1B and if its not expired, he may need to file for COS.

No you don't have to wait for your 3 year extension to return to US. Your lawyers and company are basically trying to get your three year extension so that you can get a 3 year visa stamped in your passport. But there's nothing stopping you from returning to US at any time on your current H1b.
For your second question - no you don't have to be present in the US to file for the extension .

I had my H1b till Nov 16, 2010 with Company1
Company2 applied for H1b transfer and it was approved as of Nov 08, 2010 ( but we didn't get any notification about it it's approval until few weeks later)

I would suggest you ask your employer B to file thru premium processing. Just to be on the safe side
cancellation takes atleast a month if not more. (4-5 months is not a confirmed number so its better to assume the worse case of 1 month)

I'm curious if anyone has got multiple RFEs on their I-485 application. I had an EVL RFE last year and wonder about the chances they'll give that (or any other) RFEs again in future.
Any personal experiences?
By multiple RFE I don't mean many questions in 1 RFE letter. I mean USCIS sends you 1 RFE, receives reply and resumes the case and then at a later point in time sends another RFE on the same application.
No personal experience but based on recent visa bulletin and slow movement prediction going forward I would not be surprised if they send another EVL RFE, especially if your PD is more recent. This is because if and when your PD is approaching to be current, that could take 2, 3 4 or even 5 years. They may ask for EVL again to verify you still have a job offer after 5 years.

Here (http://www.dphoto.us/forumphotos/showgallery.php?cat=1377) are a few pictures from my excursion to Turkey Run S P last weekend. While my camera performed better than I expected from a late-90's era 2.7MP DSLR, I didn't fare so well, coming home with far fewer "keepers" than I would have liked. My greatest problem was that I either didn't set up a tripod or failed to increase the ISO to get more DOF in many landscape shots that needed it, and frequently I also got motion blur from lack of tripod usage. This experience has taught me that for me personally, even though the D1 is 2 stops faster than Velvia, I still must slow down and use a tripod - not only to prevent blur and enable slower exposures, but also to force a slower and more thoughtful pace of composition.

I happened to read the following on a different thread on IV
"for cases that has to be filed by overnight courier that is by the USPS Express Mail the center will only pick up mails from the U.S Postal Service once a day and in the morning. Therefore any mail that is not picked up in the morning will be picked only the following day and is given a next day receipt date."
Does it mean that any packages that were sent out yesterday(Thursday) will be delivered today(Friday), but USCIS will only pick it up on Monday morning and then assign Monday as the receipt date? Anyone with some knowledge on this, please clarify.

It is very late to be submitting the RFE response now. CIS will probably deny the H-1B and your employer will need to refile. The employer should have asked for an extension before the due date.
